Stronger Together: A New Food Access Partnership in Petersburg

When neighbors come together to fight hunger, entire communities grow stronger. We are thrilled to share a new collaboration between the Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center (CFBOC) and the City of Petersburg, designed to bring essential food resources directly to those who need them most through convenient drive-thru distributions.

A Partnership Built on Dignity and Care

At the heart of this initiative is a shared commitment to serving families with dignity, care, and respect.

"This partnership is about so much more than just distributing food; it’s about making sure every neighbor has the resources they need to truly flourish," says Kim Hill, Executive Director of CFBOC. "We’re encouraged by this opportunity to grow our impact beyond Chesterfield and serve our neighbors throughout the broader community."

This effort has been championed by Councilman Howard Myers, who is spearheading the collaboration to help meet the unique needs of Petersburg residents. In expressing his support, Councilman Myers highlighted the importance of collective action, stating, "Community is everything." He also shared his gratitude for the local partners making this possible, including Mt. Olivet Baptist Church for hosting the distribution events.

Convenient Access for Local Families

We understand that life is busy and accessing support should be as straightforward as possible. Our monthly distributions are hosted at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church (800 Augusta Ave, Petersburg, VA 23803) and are designed to be a seamless, respectful experience for everyone.

Distribution Schedule:

  • When: The first Monday of each month.

  • Registration: First-time client registration begins at 4:00 PM.

  • Distribution: Drive-thru pickup begins at 5:00 PM.

Building a Hunger-Free Future

The Petersburg partnership is part of our broader vision to ensure that everyone in our region has consistent access to nutritious food. Whether you live in Petersburg, Chesterfield, or surrounding areas, we are here to support you. Seeking assistance is a proactive step toward stability, and we encourage any neighbor in need to reach out.
