When April rolls around in Chesterfield, the county transforms into a celebration of culinary excellence and community purpose. Again this year, Chesterfield Restaurant Week partnered with Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center, and the results were nothing short of remarkable.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of Chesterfield residents and the unwavering support of over 50 local restaurants, this year's 10-day dining event raised almost $18,000 for CFBOC, and enough to provide almost 72,000 meals for our neighbors in need. Hosted by the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce with support from Experience Chesterfield and presenting partner Chesapeake Bank, Restaurant Week delivered hope, dignity, and tangible support to families throughout our community.
When Businesses Become Neighbors
What makes this partnership so powerful is not just the funds raised, but the genuine commitment from restaurant owners who understand their role in building a stronger community here in Chesterfield. These business leaders recognize that food insecurity affects real people here, like families working multiple jobs, seniors on fixed incomes, and children who depend on food assistance to thrive.
One of the things that makes this event truly special, is how it creates a win-win moment. Diners enjoy exceptional meals at participating restaurants while knowing their support directly fights hunger. Restaurants attract new customers and reinforce their role as community anchors. And CFBOC gains critical resources to expand programs and reach more households in need.
"This partnership perfectly embodies the spirit of community collaboration that makes Chesterfield so special," says Kim Hill, Executive Director of Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center. "When local businesses come together to support their neighbors in need, we create a stronger, more resilient community for everyone."
A Restaurant's Second Victory
This year, El Cerro Azul claimed the top fundraising spot for the second year in a row—a testament to their genuine commitment to fighting hunger alongside CFBOC. Their repeat leadership speaks volumes about the restaurant's values and their customers' shared belief that every neighbor deserves to eat well.
For restaurants like El Cerra Azul and so many others across Chesterfield, participating in Restaurant Week is about more than a fundraising event. It's about connection. It's about recognizing that a strong community requires all of us to show up for one another.
From One Meal to Many
What does almost 72,000 meals mean in real terms? They mean a working parent doesn't have to skip meals so their children eat. They mean a senior can focus on taking medication instead of worrying about groceries. They mean families can reach for fresh produce and nutritious food, notThey mean dignity, health, and stability for thousands of our neighbors.
This funding strengthens CFBOC's ability to:
Provide emergency food assistance to families facing sudden hardship. Support our community outreach programs that connect people to resources like SNAP benefits and job training. Sustain our volunteer programs that keep operations running and meaningful connections strong.
A Reminder of What's Possible
As CFBOC works toward a hunger-free Chesterfield, moments like Chesterfield Restaurant Week remind us of the incredible potential when our community comes together. We are not facing this challenge alone. The community is standing with us, and together, we're making a real difference.
To every restaurant owner who participated and donated, to every diner who supported the cause, to our partners at the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce and Experience Chesterfield, to Chesapeake Bank and all who helped bring Chesterfield Restaurant Week to life, thank you so much for your support.
