Continuing a Legacy of Compassion

For over 35 years, the Thanksgiving Program, originally run by CCHASM, has been a beacon of hope for families in Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie, Hopewell, Petersburg, and Prince George. Now, the Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center (CFBOC) is proud to carry this tradition forward through our Operation Holiday Hundred program ensuring that no family is left behind during the holiday season.

Why This Program Matters

It may still be summer, but with food insecurity on the rise and the cost of living increasing, thousands of local families face the prospect of an empty table this Thanksgiving. CFBOC will step in to bridge this gap, providing each registered family with a full nonperishable Thanksgiving meal bag so they can create a meaningful celebration at home. 

Thanks to our community's incredible generosity, more than 13,000 people were served last year. For our first year, we need your help to make an even bigger impact, which is why we are starting early!

How You Can Help

Donate Gift Cards & Meal Bags

You can collect food items and $20 grocery gift cards in your neighborhood, workplace, or place of worship. Pledge forms are due by September 15, and donations should be delivered to the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds (10300 Courthouse Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832) on November 16th or 17th between 10am and 2pm. Please place gift cards in a separate envelope with your name.

 Meal Bag Items:

• 2 cans (15 oz.) yams or sweet potatoes

• 1 box (13 oz.) instant mashed potatoes

• 1 can (14 oz.) cranberry sauce

• 2 cans (15 oz.) corn

• 2 cans (15 oz.) green vegetables

• 2 boxes stuffing (no bags)

• 2 cans or packages of gravy (no glass jars)

• 1 box hot chocolate

• 1 box tea bags

• 1 box or bag of cookies

Donation Tips:

• Check expiration dates (no expired food, please).

• Only unopened, original packaging is accepted.

• Use double paper bags with handles or canvas grocery bags.

Volunteers (ages 14 and older) are essential. Volunteer shifts open online October 1st.

Need Help This Thanksgiving?

If you or someone you know needs a Thanksgiving meal, registration opens October 1st. Visit cfboc.org/thanksgiving to sign up. Meal pickup is Saturday, November 21st at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds (please choose your preferred time when registering).
